Before you begin sharing your Borrower Portal (POS: Point of Sale) link with clients, it’s important to test the borrower experience yourself. Walking through the application process allows you to understand what your borrowers see and prepares you to better support them in using the Borrower Portal (POS) throughout the loan process.

In order to test the borrower experience, you'll need to first create a test borrower account. Then, you will be able to test Borrower Portal (POS) features like the loan application and client needs.

It isn't uncommon for Loan Officers to take screenshots or screen recordings throughout this process to provide instructions for their borrowers or keep for future reference.

Create Test Borrower Account

Before you can test the Borrower Portal (POS) features, you'll need to create a test borrower account for yourself and verify the test borrower account.

1. Open an Incognito Window

Always start by opening an Incognito or Private Browsing window. This ensures browser cache and cookies don’t interfere with the login process, especially if you’re already logged into your ARIVE LOS (Loan Origination System) in a normal browser window.

  • In Chrome (recommended), right-click the vertical 3 dots icon in the upper right corner and select New Incognito Window

  • In Safari or Firefox, navigate to File > New Private Window

Important: Whenever accessing your test borrower account, always use an Incognito Window. This helps prevent account confusion and maintains system accuracy.

2. Access Your Borrower Portal (POS) URL

Inside the incognito window, navigate to your personal Borrower Portal (POS) URL.

If you don't have or know your Borrower Portal (POS) URL, you can find it in the LOS window where you are already logged in using the below instructions.

  1. Click your profile icon in the upper right corner.

  2. Hover your mouse cursor over Borrower Portal in the menu and click double square icon (Copy Link) next to English in the subsequent menu for the English POS URL (or Spanish for the Spanish POS URL).

  3. Paste the link into the incognito browser’s address bar and press enter.

Important: Save your Borrower Portal (POS) URL as a bookmark to quickly and easily access the Borrower Portal regularly.

3. Register as a Borrower

You'll want to create a borrower account using a different email address than the email address currently associated with your ARIVE login. This will help avoid confusion when using your test borrower account.

If you don’t have a second email, most email platforms (like Gmail) allow you to add a "+tag” to your existing address. This allows emails to go to the same inbox, but registers as a unique email for ARIVE.

Example:

  • jane@broker.com can become jane+borrower@broker.com

Create a borrower account using a different email address than the one you use for your ARIVE login.

1. Enter First Name, Last Name, Email, and Password

2. Click the checkbox next to I'm not a robot.

3. Click the Create Account button.

Important: Don't forget to save your test borrower account credentials in your password manager to quickly and easily login to the Borrower Portal (POS).

4. Verify the Borrower Account

After you click the Create Account button, a verification email will be sent to the email address you input for the test borrower account.

Once you receive the verification email, right-click the verification link and select Open Link in Incognito Window.

This ensures the verification opens within the same browser session you used to register.

Important: If you can't locate the verification email, check your email spam/junk folder.

Test the Borrower Portal (POS)

Don't be afraid to play around and experiment when your testing the Borrower Portal (POS). This can be a great resource to confirm your settings are configured as expected, explore aspects of features, and understand the borrower experience.

Test the Loan Application (1003)

Proceed through the 1003 application just like a borrower would. Use realistic information and pay attention to the layout and flow.

You can keep your LOS open in your regular browser window and switch between the two views to see both borrower and loan officer experiences side by side.

Test Client Needs Functionality

After submitting your test loan application, you will be able to access the Task List, which will show Client Needs you have sent to the test borrower account.

You'll want to open the screens side by side. This lets you test the communication and task process from both sides of the platform.

  1. In the LOS, add and send Client Needs in the test loan for the test borrower account.

  2. In the Borrower Portal (POS) (in the incognito browser window), click Task List to view the Client Needs requested from your test borrower.

    • You'll be able to click the buttons beside each Client Need (eSign, Upload, or Answer) to complete the applicable task.
